Incidentally, the direct-to-disc advantage is that the music is recorded directly onto a lacquer film. This means that the sound is unadulterated and authentic. From the microphone to the long-playing record, the sound remains analog. Nothing is stored on a tape or a computer.
This in turn leads to short and direct signal paths. The sound waves from the instruments are converted into electrical vibrations and cut directly into a mechanical groove on the record.
