Banana plug (Bananas)

The banana plug was developed in the 1920s to ensure a reliable connection in electrical measuring devices. It got its name from the curved spring contacts, which are reminiscent of a banana. In the following decades, the banana plug was widely used in laboratories and educational institutions as it allowed easy handling and secure connections.

Over time, it was further developed to support higher voltages and currents and remains a widely used connecting element in electronics and electrical engineering to this day.
