Vinyl Accessories · LP Outer Sleeves
The cover is not just a sleeve — it's part of the work itself. Artwork, liner notes, the tactile feel of the cardboard: everything that sits on the shelf for decades deserves more than unprotected direct contact with neighbouring covers, shelf boards and fingertips. Ring wear, scuffed corners, faded spines and rubbed labels are the quiet value-killers of every vinyl collection. The Dynavox LP Outer Sleeves protect exactly what gives a record its character beyond the sound — using a material that the archive world has trusted for decades.
Made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) at a thickness of 100 µm, these outer sleeves are built considerably stronger than the thin standard films in the 60-to-80-µm range found in many entry-level sets. HDPE is chemically inert and completely plasticizer-free — unlike PVC films, which release phthalates into their surroundings over the years and can damage sensitive cardboard prints in particular. The slightly matted surface reflects very little light, keeps the cover visible in its original colour palette and prevents the greasy sheen that smoother films often develop over time. Antistatic by design, the sleeve binds no dust — a detail that, in an open shelf, marks the difference between fresh and yellowed.

Material & Archival Safety
High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is the preferred film class in professional archiving for long-term storage — and for good reason. Unlike PVC films, which can release mobile plasticizers (phthalates) into adjacent materials over the years, HDPE contains no migrating additives. The sleeve does not chemically attack cardboard prints, enclosed booklets, inlays or the record itself — a crucial point for any collection meant to last for decades. Renowned archive specialists and many leading record labels have relied on HDPE and related polyethylene qualities for precisely this reason.
The thickness of 100 micrometres (0.1 mm) is no coincidence but a deliberate positioning at the upper end of the market standard. Thinner films crease quickly with repeated handling, tear at the corners and lose their shape within a few months. 100 µm HDPE, by contrast, stays dimensionally stable, retains its transparency and is robust enough to withstand the constant filing and refiling of an actively used shelf. Tear-resistant, scratch-resistant, low-wear — the material performs mechanically exactly where a cover needs protection most: at the spine, corners and surface.
The outer sleeves are cut precisely for 12-inch vinyl formats and cover the entire mainstream LP spectrum: standard single LPs, 12" maxi-singles and double albums in gatefold covers all find a home here — an important detail, because many sleeve sets in this price range only specify standard LPs and quickly prove too tight for thicker folding covers. The lightly matted surface texture serves two purposes at once: it reduces light reflections as you leaf through the collection and lowers the friction of sleeves sliding against neighbouring covers — so spine lettering stays legible longer and surfaces remain free of scuffs.
The antistatic treatment is a factor not to be underestimated, particularly for vinyl collectors: static charge pulls household dust directly out of the surrounding air and fixes it permanently to the cover. HDPE sleeves with antistatic properties interrupt this mechanism — dust accumulation stops, and with it the grey, matte patina that many collections develop over the years. The set ships in a sturdy printed box that doubles as practical storage for the unused supply.
The Dynavox LP outer sleeves position themselves as a serious working tool for a growing collection — not a premium luxury product, but clearly above the thin hardware-store films that many collectors start with and replace after a short time. With 100 µm HDPE thickness, antistatic treatment and gatefold compatibility, they cover the real-world demands of an actively used record shelf: robust enough for frequent handling, thin enough to avoid jamming in a densely packed shelf compartment. The 50-pack is the sensible starter size to cover a section of the collection in full, and the sleeves can be reordered in any quantity as the collection grows.
