CD Accessories · Antistatic Inner Sleeve
CDs tend to be considered well looked after — after all, they sit safely inside their case. The problem becomes obvious the moment you handle a Japanese mini-LP reissue, a Mosaic boxset, or an audiophile cardboard-sleeve edition: every time the disc is pulled out, it scrapes against the rough inside of the cardboard sleeve, electrostatic charge attracts dust and fibre debris onto the data side, and over the years fine scuff marks accumulate exactly where the laser is about to track. The Analogis »Protect It« CD inner sleeves are the quiet, methodical answer to this: an antistatic inner sleeve that sits between the disc and its outer cover as an invisible buffer — just present enough to do its job and no more.
Technically, »Protect It« CD sleeves are the direct counterpart to the well-established Analogis LP inner sleeves — only sized to the compact 12 cm of the CD. Premium-grade HDPE film at 40 µm thickness, fully antistatically coated, with rounded corners on the sealed side. The rounding is functional rather than cosmetic: it keeps the sleeve from catching on a corner of a tight cardboard sleeve, folding back on itself, or jamming the disc. Each pack contains 100 sleeves — designed for an entire collection, not a single album.
HDPE 40 µm
Premium thickness, plasticiser-free, permanently transparent — no yellowing, no migration onto the disc label
Antistatic Coating
Actively keeps dust and fibre particles off the data side — no magnet effect from electrostatic charge
Rounded Corners
Slides cleanly into any tight cardboard sleeve — no folded edges, no jammed discs
The primary use case is cardboard-sleeve CDs — every edition where the disc sits directly inside a paper or card cover: Japanese mini-LP reissues (from Universal, Sony Japan or the classic Mobile Fidelity issues), Mosaic boxsets, ECM Touchstone series, audiophile SACD cardboard sleeves from Esoteric or Stockfisch, and countless single-disc editions that intentionally do without the bulky jewel case. This is exactly where a bare CD rubs against the inner card every time it's pulled out — and exactly where the »Protect It« sleeve prevents that direct contact.
Equally useful: loose CDs in storage boxes or wallets, where multiple discs lie on top of each other or sit in fabric loops. The »Protect It« also works as a replacement for damaged or lost original inner sleeves — anyone who has bought a used collection knows how often the original thin plastic bag has long since torn or gone brittle. And finally, for anyone wanting to take pressure off their multi-disc jewel cases: a thin protective sleeve between two discs that would otherwise lie directly on each other prevents the abrasive contact between data sides.
The choice of material is anything but arbitrary: HDPE — High Density Polyethylene — has been the standard in record and disc archiving for decades, because unlike PVC or basic LDPE films it is plasticiser-free. That matters for long-term storage: plasticisers from cheap plastic films can migrate onto the lacquer surface of a CD over time, clouding it or in the worst case attacking the printed label side. HDPE remains chemically stable and transparent, even after ten or twenty years on the shelf.
The 40 µm material thickness marks the sweet spot between protection and handling: thin enough to fit into any tight cardboard sleeve, thick enough to confidently absorb tears, creases and point pressure. Many cheaper sleeves on the market work with 25 or 30 µm — noticeably lighter, but also distinctly more prone to creasing, which can in turn leave pressure marks on the data side. The antistatic coating is the often-underestimated factor when handling CDs: an electrostatically charged disc attracts household dust like a magnet — and that dust settles preferentially on the data side, exactly where the laser registers it as a scattering point during readout.
Like most Analogis products, the »Protect It« sleeves are manufactured in Germany, Japan or Taiwan under audited conditions. The brand belongs to Phono-Zubehör-Vertrieb GmbH in Falkensee and has stood for years for affordably priced, measurably effective care accessories for both analogue and digital sound reproduction.
