Apertura Stela - The versatile 2-way floorstanding loudspeaker
The Apertura Stela is a sophisticated 2-way floorstanding loudspeaker that was first introduced in May 2022. This model impresses with its ingenious design and offers a sonic experience that goes far beyond expectations. Anyone who sees the Stela as a mere extension of the Sensa with double bass fails to appreciate the engineering skill behind this speaker.
Sound concept & construction
The Stela is based on the proven characteristics of the Sensa, but has been optimized for universal use in small to medium-sized rooms. Special care has been taken to ensure that the speaker can be easily operated by standard amplifiers and offers an impressive sound experience even in less than ideal placement.
A key feature of the Stela are the two bass drivers, which are externally similar to the Sensa chassis. However, there is a decisive improvement here: The drivers are equipped with a special 15-ohm voice coil, which enables greater speed and lower distortion. Thanks to the doubling of the chassis, the cone movement is reduced, resulting in a superior bass and clearer mids.
The cabinet has been extensively optimized to avoid unwanted resonances. It is divided into five sections with four internal reinforcements and damped with four different absorption materials. This ensures a balanced, precise sound without reverberation or booming effects.
High-quality components
The tweeter of the Stela is externally similar to that of the smaller Apertura models, but has been fitted with a more complex double magnet. This improves the linearity and ensures even finer detail reproduction. The crossover has been adapted accordingly and uses only the highest quality components:
- PCB with 140 µm copper conductor tracks
- Baked varnish coils & polypropylene capacitors from Jantzen
- Resistors from Vishay
The connection terminals have also been improved and now enable the secure connection of bananas or spades.
Well-rehearsed perfection
The Stela requires a break-in period of 300 hours to develop its full sonic potential. This is due to the elaborately designed crossover. Initially, the speaker may sound somewhat reserved - but over time it develops a fascinating musicality.
Flexibility in placement
Thanks to its sophisticated design, the Stela can play freely and openly at a distance of just 30 cm from the rear wall. It is ideal for music listeners looking for a detailed, homogeneous sound image without sharpness or annoyance - and without having to rely on a fixed sweet spot.
