CUSTOMER FEEDBACK: ZEROPLUG C™

Hello Mr. Kühn, I am shocked, I have never experienced anything like this. I own a T+A system (2 A3000, PD1200R, CM1210, DD1510 and DVD 1210) and have done everything you can imagine in terms of tuning. High-quality power and RCA cables and plugs. Fine-wire fuses, sound modules and even the house connection equipped with AHP blade fuses. Sound cloth is of course also no question. I was delighted with everything. I can hear immediately whether something fits or not. Last Friday at the auditorium in Hamm I was given a pair of Zero Plugs C (7 of them). At home, I immediately plugged them into the free cinches and turned on the music. I've never experienced anything like it. Thank you very much. I almost wet my pants, it was so incredible what I was allowed to experience here and now I always can. Unfortunately I still need 4 more. I have now reordered them and am already waiting for them with enthusiasm. I have also ordered your Harmonizer and am looking forward to it. But I can already say that I am thrilled and amazed at what happens. Such a presentation of the music is simply amazing and mega cool. Thank you very much for such a great product.

Hello Mr. Kühn,
A hi-fi dealer gave me the opportunity to test both the ZeroPlug M (15 units) and the ZeroPlug C (4 units) at home. I listen with a flat radiator and battery-powered electronics. The result is more than impressive. Clearer intelligibility of speech, improved localization, very good spread in width and depth. I also used the "Harmonizer". Now something happens that everyone should experience for themselves: there is a further improvement in all of the above points. The music now seems much more emotional. The result is a detailed sound that is simply fun to listen to. I would like to share one more piece of information. Before I tried the ZeroPlug C on my preamp, I had already tested the end caps from the S. company. Although the S. end caps also showed an increase in localization and vocal intelligibility, the sound was much more analytical and cooler in comparison. Naturally, I kept the products listed above. Having been made aware of this by a short note in your magazine, I tried out the terminating plugs for RCA jacks from Black Forest Audio. As recommended, I closed all open RCA sockets on my system. I listen with a CD player with tube output, tube integrated amplifier and electrostats.
The result was stunning: unbelievable contouring of individual instruments. Voices sound silkier without a certain roughness. The overall sound has gained substance.
I left the ZeroPlugsC in my system straight away and immediately bought another set for my STAX headphones, with surprisingly even more audible results: like "unleashed"!
Just wanted to share this with you out of enthusiasm.

The sound has clearly gained structure across the entire frequency range.
The high-frequency range has benefited in particular ( similar to the use of a
subwoofer ): better detail resolution and less high-frequency sharpness.

 

For customer information, I consider two recommendations to be essential:
1. you should definitely consider all RCA input/output.
2. the ZeroPlugs also require a break-in period (1-2 days).

Dear Mr. Kühn,
Last Thursday I bought ZeroPlugs C & M and the Harmonizer. I found time to plug them in at lunchtime - and was spontaneously overwhelmed! I hadn't used the third ZeroPlug M until today, but only plugged the two Cs into the remaining free RCA sockets on the CD player, the two ZeroPlugs M into the free sockets on my power strip - and the Harmonizer into the free wall socket - as you recommended.

Wow - what a sound improvement!
If someone had asked me about this 5 years ago, I would have thought they were crazy...

Everything that has happened to my system since then is difficult to describe in words. Even after switching to reference class signal cables, which play fantastically clean, fast and present, I thought: there's nothing left!

But - it works! And how !!! While the sound was previously ultra clean, extremely fast, with almost plastic 3D highs, with the help of your ZeroPlugs (2x Cinch, 2x Mains) in combination with the Harmonizer it gained such a pleasant calmness, serenity and relaxation in the imaging that I can hardly put into words. Small harshness and sibilance in the high frequencies of vocals disappeared as if by magic!
An unclean slide on the frets of an acoustic guitar no longer grated on the nerves, but was reproduced completely realistically.
Voices sounded even more authentic - and I have to mention the increase in space and depth!
I would even say that the brittle technical term "channel separation" takes on a new meaning as a result of these measures.
When an instrument unexpectedly begins to sound in a corner, I am startled in a different way than before. It also appears to be positioned somewhere else!

My chain, especially my old Mark Levinsons, get back what once made the brand famous - a little more "ghost in the machine".
In other words: a sovereignty and naturalness in the musical reproduction, a HARMONY!
And the best thing of all: your tuning measures don't need hours or months of warming up. They work immediately!

Mr. Kühn: all this is brilliant! I haven't explored all the possibilities yet. Nor do I want to for the time being.
If something convinces me in terms of sound, then I'll hear it after 3 seconds.

P.S.: On Friday evening I went to the Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits concert at the SAP Arena in Mannheim.
The man - at 58 - still has it in him! Very, very good sound.
One of the best concerts of my life - and even better live than at home, which you can't say about all musicians...
you can't say about all musicians..."

I continued my listening test in my chain and have now concluded with the following summary:
First, I sealed all sockets with ZeroPlugM, the open RCA sockets with ZeroPlugC and one wall socket with the HARMONIZER. Although all 3 types together have a much stronger effect than one product alone, I alternately removed the Harmonizer, the ZeroPlugs M and C (one piece at a time), and the loss of sound was greatest when the Harmonizer was removed!
My impression from listening over the last few weeks has been confirmed: The instruments have more physicality - especially noticeable in the bass range - the double bass is no longer just "buzzy", but becomes more corporeal, gaining airiness and thus standing more pleasantly in the room. The instruments and voices are given more "fullness" and a gain in timbre and tone color. Uwe P.

I would like to give you some feedback on your products. After finding out about your products on the Internet, my curiosity was aroused. As my system has been set up with regard to the components and the loudspeakers, I have been looking into the subject of fine tuning. I have to say that after some initial skepticism, I was downright flabbergasted. Whether it was the Zero Plug C on the preamp, the Zero Plug M in the power strip or the harmonizer, I could clearly make out everything in the blind test. Now that I was convinced, I ordered the soundboard for the power supply of my preamp and 2 Soundcubes for my power strip. In contrast to many previously tried sub-pucks, which sounded either too sterile or too soft, the Klangholz sub-pucks hit the right note in my opinion. I am really delighted with the increase in emotionality that my system has experienced thanks to your products. I can therefore only recommend all true music lovers to experiment with them without prejudice, it's worth it. I will continue to visit your website regularly to keep up to date with new developments. Keep up the good work.

Termination plug for RCA jacks - by Black Forest Audio from Germany.

With the ZeroPlug™C you solve several problems at once in all HiFi systems. The ever-touted 75 ohm connectors for open digital outputs are in need of replacement. Black Forest Audio experienced practically no case where they showed stable results over a longer period of time. After half an hour, a day or a week, the sound improves when the plugs are removed again. The creeping deterioration is hardly noticed. So unplug and listen!
 
Open analog inputs & outputs act as an antenna for interference:
With the ZeroPlug™C you get this under control!
 
  1. The ZeroPlug™C gives you a stable solution for all 75 ohm outputs & inputs that are unused. BNC & XLR jacks can also be plugged with a ZeroPlugC via a BNC/RCA or XLR/RCA adapter.
    The effect is audible as with the RCA jacks.
  2. For the RCA jacks, you first close all open outputs (Pre Out, Rec Out ...), open phono inputs, open inputs directly next to occupied inputs, unoccupied power amp inputs and finally the remaining open RCA/RCA jacks step by step.
  3. You can simply close all open inputs with ZeroPlugs and test after a few days if disconnecting single plugs leads to a sound degradation. It is not always necessary to close all openings to get the best sound result, if you don't want to search and eliminate compensations in other places.

The following adapters are also available (the effect is comparable to the RCA inputs)
  • BNC/Cinch adapter (4,-EUR)
  • XLR/Cinch-Adapter (6,-EUR) male and female.
Please note that balanced inputs or outputs next to coaxial parallel inputs or outputs often switch off the latter. In this case, unfortunately, you can not close this balanced input / output, unless the corresponding switch is shut down by a specialist.
 
 

When to do if . . . .

The jack spacing - measured center-to-center - is less than 15mm?

The diameter of the ZeroPlug™C is 15mm. If the socket spacing on a device is less, e.g. 14mm, you cannot put the standard ZeroPlugs on adjacent sockets, otherwise they will be wedged apart and the springs of the inner socket could be stretched. We have therefore introduced a "Slim Version" with 13.5mm diameter at the same price, which has been available since October 2006.

If the sockets are even narrower, a "half" solution can be achieved by closing only every second open RCA socket. Care should be taken to ensure that left and right channels get the same number of ZeroPlug™C so that the channels do not sound different.
