Anyone who operates two pairs of speakers in the living room - such as floorstanding speakers for stereo and bookshelf speakers for the next room - or who wants to control the same speaker alternately from the stereo and surround amplifier, needs an elegant solution without swapping cables and without risk to the amplifier output stages. The Dynavox AMP-S MK II is exactly that: a solid, passive switch that combines both applications in one device - bidirectional, with a single rotary knob.

Compared to the previous model, the MK II version has two noticeable improvements: The banana sockets have been deepened to 18 mm so that even heavy, stiff speaker cables sit securely in the socket and do not slip out due to their own weight. In addition, the internal wiring has been given a larger cable cross-section of 2.5 mm², which minimizes contact resistance and ensures interference-free signal transmission at full power.

The AMP-S MK II works purely passively - it requires no power supply and does not introduce any active electronics into the signal path. The high-quality rotary switch not only switches the signal, but also the ground of both channels - a technically important feature that prevents unwanted hum loops and potential differences between the connected devices. The integrated zero position briefly interrupts all connections when switching before the new configuration engages - an effective protection for amplifier output stages that can acknowledge a short circuit at the output.

With a maximum switching capacity of 200 watts per channel, the AMP-S MK II also covers powerful amplifiers with ease. The very low contact resistance of the contacts ensures that neither level nor sound quality are measurably affected by the switch. The gold-plated terminal connections accept both conventional screw terminals and banana plugs - and thanks to the 18 mm recessed sockets, even thick speaker cables from 2.5 mm² cross-section hold securely and without wobbling.

The sturdy metal housing with its solid 4 mm thick aluminum front panel gives the AMP-S MK II the appearance of a fully-fledged hi-fi component - not a plastic compromise that looks out of place next to high-quality amplifiers and loudspeakers. The front panel is available in either black or silver, so that the device blends in visually with both modern black and classic silver system configurations. With dimensions of 144 × 210 × 78 mm, the switch fits unobtrusively into the rack or hi-fi cabinet. German operating instructions are included.
