Resonance dampers based on the principle of magnetic attraction

Sound waves, which are generated by vibrations and oscillations, are the foundation of all our acoustic perceptions. These waves travel through the air and reach our ears, which are particularly sensitive to the sounds of musical instruments or singing. To reproduce music at home as realistically as possible, you need a technically sophisticated hi-fi system. However, even high-quality systems are susceptible to disturbing resonances and feedback caused by vibrations from loudspeakers, floors, walls or even external influences such as traffic noise. Devices such as record players and CD players are particularly sensitive and their sound quality is impaired by these vibrations.

Conventional damping elements on the market often have the disadvantage that they form a firm connection to the surface despite being made of soft materials such as rubber or cork. These materials tend to compress and fatigue, which leads to a rebound effect and ultimately to a deterioration in damping. The patented MAGAUDIO RESONANCE dampers offer a ground-breaking solution by working entirely without damping media. By using a magnetic field surrounded only by air, vibrations are reduced effectively and without reverberation. These dampers utilize magnetic attraction and are designed for both compressive and tensile forces, ensuring high stability even with large speakers.

The MAGAUDIO RESONANCE dampers use specially manufactured neodymium magnets and are easy to handle as they can be screwed into place or placed underneath. Thanks to their anti-slip foam rubber surface, additional fastening is often not necessary. With this technology, MAGAUDIO RESONANCE dampers set new standards in resonance damping and ensure unadulterated and clear sound quality in any room.

The Magaudio series and its use
The MAGAUDIO RESONANCE dampers are available in 10 different series and cover loads from 2 to 50 kg per foot, which corresponds to a load of 8 to 200 kg per set of 4. These dampers are characterized by their high stability and compact design. They can be loaded both in compression and tension (2-16 kg variants), whereby a maximum of 50% of the nominal load should be used for tensile loads - it is advisable to provide fall protection.

Different damper sizes can be combined with each other for optimum balance with uneven weight distribution. All dampers, which are designed for loads from 5 to 50 kg, are also height-adjustable for precise adjustments. The dampers in the LR5-NA/HA to LR16-NA/HA series can be freely combined with each other to create individual mix sets. The elements are available in black and white to match the various audio components.

To ensure optimum performance of the dampers, a maximum load of 80% of the specified load capacity is recommended.

Important: When selecting the damper size, the weight of unevenly distributed loads must be taken into account. The heaviest side of the device determines the maximum load and therefore the selection of the appropriate damper size.

Speaker application example
The support of a second person is recommended for the safe installation of a floorstanding speaker on MAGAUDIO RESONANCE magnetic dampers. First determine the exact position where the speaker is to be set up. Tilt the speaker slightly forwards and place two magnetic dampers under the rear corners of the speaker cabinet, as far out from the edges as possible.

Then carefully tilt the speaker backwards and place two more magnetic dampers under the front corners. Again, the dampers should be positioned on the outer edges to ensure even distribution.
To ensure that the dampers are positioned correctly, tilt the speaker slightly forwards one last time so that the rear feet are relieved and check the position. Once everything is correctly positioned, the speaker can be brought into the perfect vertical position by moving the front or rear dampers slightly. To do this, always tilt the speaker slightly in the opposite direction to relieve and adjust the corresponding dampers.

Important: If the speaker has its own stand extensions, these should be used wherever possible to attach the MAGAUDIO damping elements so as not to impair the stability of the speaker. Removing these extensions could have a negative effect on the stability of the speaker.
In principle, a speaker on magnetic dampers is no more susceptible to tipping than on fixed feet. For additional safety, however, we recommend a height-to-width ratio of the dampers of around 3:1. This means that for a speaker with a height of 100 cm, the dampers should have a minimum width of 33 cm. If this width is not available, it is advisable to use stand extensions, which MAGAUDIO can also produce individually.
