Every hi-fi component stands on a surface - and every surface vibrates. Footfall noise from the floor, motor vibrations from the turntable, transformer hums from the amplifier, sound pressure waves from the speakers: all these vibrations find their way into the equipment, are superimposed on the useful signal and directly cost resolution, spatiality and dynamics. Classic damping elements made of rubber, sorbothane or cork cannot solve the fundamental problem - they compress, fatigue and bounce. The MAGAUDIO RESONANCE LR5-NA takes a fundamentally different approach: purely magnetic vibration isolation, without any solid damping medium, patented and manufactured in Germany.
The principle is as simple as it is physically consistent: the component rests on an air gap, which is supported by neodymium magnets specially manufactured for MAGAUDIO according to the principle of magnetic attraction - i.e. gravity. This is the decisive difference to levitation designs based on repulsion: Attraction creates an inherently stable system that stands securely even with heavy loads and slim speakers. A self-supporting POM piston moves between the magnetic plates in the air gap - virtually friction-free, without breakaway torque, responding immediately to the smallest impulses.
Pure air bearing
No damping medium, no resilience - patented magnetic field with atmospheric air as a carrier
Bidirectional damping
Effective in compression and tension - increased stability even with tall, slim speakers
Made in Germany
Manufactured neodymium magnets, tried and tested since 2018 - no ageing, no drop in performance
Elastomers, rubber buffers and sorbothane pads share a fundamental problem: they consist of compressible material that is pre-stretched or pre-compressed under load. In this state, they react sluggishly to subtle vibrations - a so-called breakaway torque occurs, below which the dampers simply do not respond. Precisely the finest resonances that color the sound image the most - microphonic effects in tubes, jitter in converters, needle resonances in record players - happen undamped. Added to this is the unavoidable material fatigue: rubber compresses permanently, loses its restoring force and the damping effect decreases noticeably over time.
MAGAUDIO RESONANCE has none of these problems. The magnetic field is not subject to material fatigue. The neodymium magnets retain their force permanently. And because the POM piston is guided in the air gap with virtually no friction, the system responds to microscopically fine vibration impulses - those that are simply below the response threshold for other damping solutions.
Functional principle in detail
In the damping range of the LR5-NA, there is a supporting magnetic field that is surrounded exclusively by atmospheric air. If the surface or the component itself generates a vibration, the impulse is transmitted to the magnetic plates - and is immediately dissipated by the magnetic field , without any resonance effect. The analogy to the air suspension of a vehicle is a good one: the system reacts continuously and without delay, in both directions, over the entire relevant frequency spectrum from 5 Hz upwards.
The LR5-NA is part of the Elevation series (NA = not adjustable) - the compact, less expensive line for components with largely even weight distribution. The body and piston are made of POM (polyoxymethylene), an engineering plastic with excellent sliding properties and high dimensional stability. The Professional series (HA) with height adjustment and aluminum housing is recommended for devices with more uneven weight distribution. Both series can be freely combined with each other.
The sonic effect of MAGAUDIO RESONANCE is clear and reproducible in practice: bass and fundamental tone gain in contour and cleanliness, timbres become more precise and the spatial representation opens up noticeably. The overall sound image appears more effortless and natural - not because frequencies are added or colored, but because disturbing interferences are eliminated that previously overlaid the useful signal. Users unanimously report that the reproduction of fine dynamic gradations and the localization of instruments in the room in particular are significantly improved.
For optimum use, the dampers are placed directly under the base of the device - preferably on the outside of the edges to achieve an even load distribution. Always use 4 units (3 units are not recommended). If the weight distribution is uneven, the heaviest side of the appliance determines the choice of damper size. The LR10-NA (up to 40 kg/set) and LR16-NA (up to 52 kg/set) series are available for appliances that exceed the load spectrum of the LR5-NA - all models can be combined directly.
