Ortofon MC X40 - MC cartridge
Modern interpretation of legendary moving coil systems
Ortofon looks back on a long tradition of pioneering MC cartridges. Models such as the MC 10, MC 20 and MC 30 set standards in terms of sound fidelity and build quality. With the new MC X series, Ortofon builds on this heritage and raises it to a new technological level - thanks to state-of-the-art materials and innovative components.
Classic virtues reinterpreted
The MC X systems inherit key characteristics from their predecessors, such as low output voltages, precise diamond cuts and low weight. In addition, there are further developed damping elements and optimized magnetic structures that raise the sound experience to a new level.
The models in the MC X series in detail:
MC X10 - Perfect entry level
The MC X10 impresses with an elliptical diamond on an aluminum cantilever and offers an open, clear sound signature. With an output voltage of 0.4 mV and a recommended termination impedance of over 500 ohms, it is the ideal choice for ambitious beginners.
MC X20 - Extended sound panorama
By using a naked elliptical diamond, the MC X20 increases the spatiality and resolution of the music. It is aimed at listeners who value a colorful sound palette and emotional subtleties.
MC X30 - High resolution and richness of detail
A Nude Fine Line diamond with 8/40 µm rounding provides the MC X30 with excellent detail reproduction and a deeply layered stage. It delights discerning listeners with its clear, balanced reproduction.
MC X40 - reference for the discerning
The top model MC X40 uses a naked Shibata diamond on an ultra-rigid Boron cantilever. The result: breathtaking precision, dynamics and musical authenticity that exceed even the highest expectations.
Technological highlights of the new series:
- Pure silver coils: All MC X systems rely on high-purity silver for the coil winding - a sonic advance over previous MC generations.
- New magnet concept: A one-piece pole cylinder maximizes magnetic efficiency while minimizing weight.
- Damping systems developed in-house: Special rubber compounds from Ortofon production guarantee optimum coil guidance.
- Precise channel balance: With a maximum deviation of 0.5 dB and a channel separation of up to 26 dB, all models offer maximum channel balance.
- Easy handling: A uniform recommended tracking force of 2.0 grams facilitates setup.
The Ortofon MC X series presents itself as a versatile, audiophile line for music lovers of all experience levels. Whether a first encounter with high-end moving coil systems (MC X10) or uncompromising sound perfection (MC X40) - the new MC X models offer the right sound tool for every requirement.
