In October 2020, the MS-580 SE had to compete in a test field of renowned manufacturers with devices ranging from €500 to €9,690. The Pier Audio amp was awarded the coveted Diapason D'OR trophy.
The Pier Audio MS-580 SE, which was presented in August 2020, was designed to fill the gap left by the MS-680 SE. The fact that the French have succeeded in doing so was thus impressively demonstrated.
A high-end device based on craftsmanship that combines both traditional and new technologies and allows your digital devices to connect easily.

In a mix of hybrid technology from tube preamp and transistor power amp, the amp performs amazingly. The housing is an improved new development. It is already familiar from the Pier Audio MM/MC 8 phono stage.
This is a screwed aluminum housing. Housing stresses as known from sheet steel are therefore not an issue here. This basic stability can not only be seen but also heard.

The power supply unit with its powerful 320 VA transformer has also been carefully designed in all areas. Fast and current-stable diodes were used for rectification. As with its big brother, the MS-680 SE, four electrolytic capacitors with a total of 40,000 microfarads of capacitance ensure proper load stability.

But the work did not end there. The tube preamplifier was also adapted. The MS-580 SE uses 3 double triodes of type 6N11. These are highly selected N.O.S. (New Old Stock) tubes, which are also used in this type in the ultimate Klimo Merlino preamps.
