The Planar 8 is the result of consistent further development and innovative engineering. Based on the top model "Naiad", Rega has deliberately refrained from further optimizing the original RP8 - instead, the essential quality features of the Naiad have been integrated into a new device that offers outstanding performance at a much more affordable price.

Convincing design philosophy
Every aspect of the Planar 8 has been designed for the best possible record reproduction. The extremely lightweight, skeletal chassis with the "TanCast 8" PU foam core, combined with advanced materials and state-of-the-art techniques, ensures precise and lifelike sound transmission. The innovative "Double Brace" technology - a targeted reinforcement using phenolic resin between the tonearm and platter bearing - additionally optimizes stability and minimizes unwanted vibrations.

Outstanding technical features

• Handmade RB880 tonearm:
  The specially developed RB880 impresses with its highly flexible, low-capacitance design and guarantees exact reproduction of nuanced sound details.
• NEO PSU MK2 power supply unit:
  This external power supply unit enables electronic speed switching with fine speed adjustment. In combination with a highly developed anti-vibration control, optimum synchronization of the turntable is achieved.
• New 24V low-noise synchronous motor:
  The motorized drive operates extremely quietly and precisely. Each motor is individually adapted to its NEO power supply unit to ensure optimum vibration damping.
• EBLT Reference drive belt:
  The newly developed drive belt ensures ideal synchronization and gives the system additional precision.
• Removable cover:
  The formerly integral outer frame of the RP8 has been replaced by an elegant, removable cover. This not only reduces the weight of the turntable, but also gives it a modern, minimalist appearance.
