The 0102 Cu / Ag RCA plug from WBT's nextgen™ product series has a transmission bandwidth of up to 200 MHz . Thus, this RCA plug is far above the usual standard products. In this plug, the more conductive brass sleeve is connected to the negative contact to ensure perfect phono shielding against interference fields.
When selecting the material for the contact parts, high-purity copper (Cu version) and fine silver (Ag version) were deliberately chosen because, as is generally known, they are among the best electrical conductors. This ensures optimum transmission of the signal. In addition, the workpiece is given a nickel-free gold plating in a further production step, which prevents oxidation of the surface and impairment of the contact quality. For the connector body, WBT's developers opted for nickel-free gold-plated brass to support the accommodation of rigid and particularly thick cables.
The central contact unit, the core element of the RCA plug, is electrically decoupled from the metal body. Special attention was paid to a low-mass design so that the WBT-0102 operates with as little eddy current as possible.
With the help of the collet mechanism, the outer contact can be firmly clamped to the RCA socket after it has been plugged in. This mechanism works comparable to the chuck of a commercial drill. The connection creates a high contact pressure, which not only leads to a secure connection, but also reduces transition resistances at the same time.
The front part does not rotate when the sleeve is tightened, because the clamping sleeve is designed in two parts. The contact elements are therefore not subjected to any rotational stress. As a further positive effect, dimensional inaccuracies in the outer contacts of RCA sockets can be compensated. The center pin also ensures a secure electrical connection with the lowest possible contact resistance. This is achieved by the slotted and slightly bent design of the center pin.
A Torx screw guarantees a secure strain relief of the cable.
