CLEAR Beyond Power XL
Within the Cardas cable hierarchy, the CLEAR Beyond series has always set the standard. With the CLEAR Beyond Power XL, Cardas Audio now presents the new flagship of this reference line in the power supply sector. Like all of the manufacturer's power cables, this model is based on lacquered, tinned strands of high-purity copper, which are manufactured according to the strictest sonic and electrical criteria.
Inside the CLEAR Beyond Power XL, three solid cable strands are twisted together. These are each insulated by PTFE and held precisely in position by air hoses to ensure mechanical stability and optimum dielectric properties. Each of these main strands is in turn made up of seven finely stranded sub-strands. The dimensioning of the individual strands consistently follows the principle of the golden section, which minimizes resonances and achieves a particularly homogeneous current flow.
The entire construction is double-shielded. This effectively protects each individual conductor track from external interference, making the CLEAR Beyond Power XL even less sensitive to high-frequency interference than the already excellent CLEAR Beyond Power. Despite its considerable diameter, the cable remains surprisingly flexible. However, due to the enormous amount of copper used, it weighs around 1.2 kilograms over a length of 1.5 meters.
The new Cardas E5 plug is used for the first time in this model. Its conductors are made of pure copper and are both silver-plated and rhodium-plated. The shielded plug body also contributes to the effective suppression of interference and ensures a low-loss, mechanically and electrically high-quality connection.
In terms of sound, the CLEAR power cables follow the same philosophy that already characterizes the CLEAR loudspeaker cables. They preserve the natural musical flow, create a deep black background and impress with their exceptionally realistic spatial imaging. The CLEAR Beyond Power XL proves to be a master of interference-free, three-dimensional imaging of impressive size. The finest details are located effortlessly, precisely and completely unobtrusively in the room. The overall reproduction is confident, calm and at the same time incredibly lively - wrapped in black velvet, as it were. A power cable that is perfect for uncompromisingly large high-end systems.
For users who don't want to compromise when it comes to mains distribution, the Nautilus Power Strip is recommended as a high-quality, reference-level power strip.
Termination options
The CLEAR Beyond Power XL is supplied as standard with an earthing contact plug from the new Cardas E5 series. This has a shielded plug body and contacts made of silver-plated and rhodium-plated pure copper.
For particularly power-hungry electronics, a 20 A type C19 plug can be supplied on request. This connection variant is used by devices from manufacturers such as Audia Flight, Jeff Rowland and T+A.
Owners of very slim components with protruding housings - for example, current devices from Devialet, LINN or Micromega - can order the cable as a custom-made product with a Furutech FI-C15 NCF IEC plug, which is characterized by its particularly compact design. American mains plugs for the input side are also available on request.
