Classic Records

The former U.S. label Classic Records

There was a time when the Classic Records label stood for exceptional reissues in the highest remastering quality. And it still does. Unfortunately, only a few copies of the former flagship label Classic Records still exist. The company ceased production in 2009.
Few people know how a vinyl record works, how it is made and what it is actually made of. After the shellac record, which was quite expensive to produce, the plastic vinyl was developed to be pressed into a record. A normal record required between 120 and 180g of vinyl. Only today's insiders know that there were also records weighing 200 grams. The weight of the record is in no way decisive for the sound. Of course, a slightly thicker record is certainly more resistant to breakage than a thin one and also has the advantage that it usually lies flat on the turntable without being pressed down. Classic Records developed the 200g vinyl record further and called their new creation quiex sv-p. Behind this cryptic name lies the formula for the further developed plastic. The records produced in this way were sold by many companies with different music styles.
The classic records label was and still is in great demand among record lovers, regardless of whether it is the old shellac records or the new quiex sv-p vinyl records. More than ever. Because now, of course, it is calling the collectors among record lovers onto the scene.
Music from the years 1950-1970 in particular is certainly still popular with many fans of all musical genres. This makes the closure of Classic Records all the more regrettable for music lovers of all genres. Exorbitant prices now have to be paid for classic recordings in particular if you want to own an original Classic Record title in its original packaging. We at Klangheimat try to offer you reasonable prices for the titles we still have available or in stock.

The label was often in trouble even before its demise in 2009, due to the policy of the company management. Retailers often complained that they had delays in delivery from the label, but this did not affect the popularity of the label. Communication with those responsible in the USA rarely worked when it came to deliveries or complaints. Today, the old 200g vinyl records are almost only offered by private individuals who have collected the well-known label. All records, whether made of shellac, vinyl or the advanced new quiex sv-p material, are not forgotten. The records are still sought-after items among the many aficionados of the well-known label. The earlier production was very extensive in terms of the styles of music. Unfortunately, after the ups and downs of the label's life, it came to an end in 2009.

For the most part, the titles are top-quality pressings in outstanding mastering quality, for which many music technicians of distinction were consulted. The pressing quality is consistently good to very good. Some copies are not entirely convincing (both in terms of sound and quality), but are still in high demand due to their rarity.
