Audiophile pressings from Stockfisch Records in Northeim
Stockfisch Records has been known for its releases from the guitar, folk and singer-songwriter scene since the 1980s.
But Stockfisch does not only offer a forum to successful or well-known artists from this scene. Interesting new releases are also supported.
In terms of technology, I have devoted myself in particular to vinyl. Using the best technology still available, we produce highlights of vinyl recordings.
In our own audio studio Pauler Acoustics, the studio of studio technician Günter Pauler, sound restoration, DDM disk cutting and CD pre-mastering are carried out on site.
Only "State Of The Art" technology and the best workstations SonicStudio, Pyramix Virtual Studio or SADiE DSD8 are used.
Over 30 years of experience in audiophile recording speak for themselves.
For 16 years now, Pauler Acoustics has exclusively used the DDM process with copper transfer, which has proven its worth and advantages over the lacquer process.
The lacquer transfer uses a sapphire heated by a heating wire, which makes its groove through black nitro lacquer. The low mechanical resistance meant that the low wattage reed amplifiers of the time had no power transmission problems.
Unfortunately, nitrocellulose lacquer has a significant disadvantage.
It is thermally unstable. A fourfold electroplating process is necessary until the finished press die, whereby a number of technically unavoidable factors are added at this point. Loss of height, pre- and post-echoes and rumbling have a lasting negative effect on the properties.
It was precisely this low-frequency interference that gave the lacquer transfer a reputation for greater spatial depth. However, this is a case of misinformation being foisted on our hearing, in which our brain interprets a larger space.
