A classic steps down.
Its successor is made of wood.
The Knosti Archifix Box Woodline: when over a million reasons aren't enough - and you still have to start again.
It has done its jobmorethan a million times: the Knosti Archifix box, the very first product from the Burgheim-based manufacturer, launched in 1976 and since then the backbone of countless record collections worldwide. A box as simple as it was functional - and so successful that it became a matter of course. Now it's over. The original Archifix box is no longer being produced. What remains is its idea - and a successor that does it justice in every respect.
The Knosti Archifix Box Woodline is not just an update. It is a redefinition of what a record box can be: sustainable, modular, suitable for living spaces - and manufactured in such a way that no two are the same.
Over one million units sold: That's a figure that speaks for itself. For decades, the original Archifix box was the benchmark for LP storage - pragmatic, reliable, inconspicuous. But that was also its limit at some point. At a time when vinyl is no longer just a music format but a way of life, when record collections are consciously staged and thought of as part of the interior design, something new had to be created.
Knosti has not ignored this change - it has drawn the consequences. The Woodline adopts the proven basic structure of the Archifix box: upright storage, modular system, well thought-out capacity. And adds something that plastic simply cannot do: Character.
Natural grain, its own texture, no two copies are identical - every Woodline is unique. Just like every record collection is.
The housing of the Woodline is made from a high-quality poplar wood composite from PEFC-certified forests - sustainably managed and demonstrably sustainable. Poplar wood is not a compromise solution: it is dimensionally stable, light and unusually robust for its weight. Anyone who has ever held a Woodline in their hands will immediately understand the difference to conventional plastic boxes - in feel, weight and visual impression.
In addition, there is something that no factory can reproduce: the natural grain of the wood. Slight differences in color between individual boxes, individual structures in the surface - these are not quality defects, but quality features. If you place several Woodlines next to each other, the result is not a uniform shelf, but an organically grown ensemble.
The PEFC certificate (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) proves that the wood used comes from forests that are managed according to strict sustainability criteria. No overexploitation, no monocultures - but controlled felling with guaranteed reforestation. A quality feature that goes beyond the box itself.
A single Woodline can hold up to 50 LPs - a respectable capacity for a compact box. But it shows its real strength when combined. The connecting strips supplied make it possible to connect several boxes to form a closed shelving system: next to each other, on top of each other or both. Knosti recommends at least three boxes as a basis for stable stacking structures; up to eight levels are possible.
If you don't have any floor space available, you can use wall mounting: eyelets on the back allow easy installation without special tools. The removable center bar simplifies assembly - it can be removed for wall installation to make it easier to insert the panels. For free-standing use, it ensures that the LPs stand upright and do not tip to one side.
A small but typical Knosti detail: the dimensions of the Woodline have been chosen so that the Disco-Antistat and the Disco-Antistat Generation II PLUS including accessories fit perfectly inside. Anyone who wants to have their cleaning equipment and collection within easy reach is well served here.
Vinyl is robust enough to last for decades - if you treat it right. The most common mistake: stacking records flat on top of each other or leaving them leaning at an angle. Both create uneven pressure on the groove and encourage warps - wave-shaped deformations that force the cartridge to make uncontrolled needle deflections and can permanently damage valuable pressings.
The Archifix Box Woodline enforces the only correct position: upright, evenly supported. The center bar prevents tipping when the box is half full. Anyone working with outer protective sleeves should take this into account when filling the box - the 50 LP capacity applies to standard covers without additional sleeves. The rule of thumb: Records must still be able to be removed and pushed back easily, without resistance.
