Record weight - More stability, more sound
A record weight is an effective accessory for anyone who wants to get the best out of their vinyl treasures. It ensures that the record rests better on the turntable, reduces micro-vibrations and increases the precision of the tracking. The result: a smoother, more detailed sound - regardless of whether it's a new pressing or an older record.
How does a record weight work?
The weight of the records is improved by the central support. The weight exerts controlled pressure on the label, making the record lie more firmly and flatly on the platter. This can bring audible benefits, especially with slightly curved or unevenly pressed records. Distortions are minimized, the stereo image is stabilized - and even subtle details emerge more clearly.
What should you look out for?
A good record weight is precisely manufactured, perfectly balanced and gentle on the record surface. Rubber rings, felt inserts or a decoupling underside prevent damage to the label. The total weight also plays a role: turntables with sensitive bearings should not be loaded with weights that are too heavy. The usual range is from approx. 300 g to 900 g.
