HiFi Accessory · Record Weight · Clearaudio
Owners of a Clearaudio Innovation know what it stands for: engineering precision at every level, from the magnetic bearing to the meticulous chassis construction. The Innovation Record Weight in black is the logical extension of that commitment — not an off-the-shelf accessory, but a clamp purpose-built for this turntable series, optimising the coupling between record and non-resonant platter to unlock the full sonic potential of the system.
At 740 g, the clamp generates an even, distributed downward force that pulls the record firmly into contact with the platter — regardless of whether the pressing is slightly bowed or not perfectly flat. Resonances created in the vinyl mass during playback, which would otherwise travel back into the system as diffuse energy, are channelled away through the direct contact with the platter. The result is audible: more defined bass, greater body in the soundstage, and a quieter, more transparent high end.
System Match
Purpose-built for the Innovation series — tuned to platter mass, bearing load and spindle diameter
Three-Material Build
Metal, wood and Teflon with mechanical grounding — resonance dissipation via separate material paths
740 g Coupling Mass
Even pressure across the entire label area — effective even on slightly warped pressings
The Innovation Record Weight combines three materials whose acoustic properties complement each other by design. Precision-machined metal forms the structural core and provides the coupling mass. Wood — a proven resonance absorber that Clearaudio also uses in the chassis of the Innovation turntables themselves — acts as a natural damping element that smooths the overall resonance behaviour of the assembly. The Teflon spindle interface ensures the weight sits on the spindle without friction, play, or any mechanical interference that could introduce noise into the system.
The multiple mechanical grounding system is the engineering centrepiece: separate energy paths channel vibration out of each material segment individually, rather than allowing it to transfer uncontrolled between layers. This is the same principle Clearaudio employs in its flagship Statement Clamp — here applied in a form precisely matched to the Innovation platform. The result is controlled energy dissipation rather than resonant buildup.
A clamp table mat is included in the package — a soft pad placed between the record weight and the label area of the LP. It protects the record from direct metal contact, distributes pressure evenly, and prevents any marking or damage to valuable first pressings or audiophile editions.
The record weight is designed for all models in the Clearaudio Innovation family: Innovation, Innovation Compact, Innovation Wood and Master Innovation. It is also compatible with the linear tracking tonearm TT1 MI. It is expressly not suitable for the tangential tonearm TT3 — the geometry of the TT3 does not allow the necessary clearance for the clamp body. If you are unsure which accessory is right for your specific configuration, please consult the tonearm documentation or contact us before ordering.
The black version pairs visually with the dark-finish variants of the Innovation series and integrates seamlessly into the aesthetic of the system. The record weight is also available in silver.
