Berlin Classics (BC) can be described as the core of edel's classical music, the forum for numerous important historical recordings, important contributions from the musical centers of Leipzig, Dresden and Berlin as well as significant new productions with established and up-and-coming young artists.
Kurt Masur, Herbert Blomstedt, Kurt Sanderling, Franz Konwitschny, Hermann Abendroth, Günther Ramin, Peter Schreier, Ludwig Güttler, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, the Staatskapellen Dresden and Berlin, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Leipzig and Berlin Radio Choirs, the Dresdner Kreuzchor and the Thomanerchor Leipzig are just some of the artists and ensembles that have contributed to this treasure trove of well over 2,000 catalog numbers.
This repertoire is gradually being made available to interested listeners on CD again, with the artistically high-ranking analog recordings being processed with the greatest care using Sonic Solutions NoNoise technology in order to bring them up to digital sound standards. At the same time, Edel CLASSICS is producing new recordings with first-class, mostly young singers, musicians and ensembles. These include the singers Michaela Kaune and Maite Beaumont, the violinist Katrin Scholz, the cellists Claudio Bohórquez and Gavriel Lipkind and the pianist Sebastian Knauer.
Established stars such as Sharon Kam, Ragna Schirmer, Lynne Dawson, Christiane Oelze, Lucia Aliberti, Thomas Zehetmair and Ludwig Güttler have also recorded and continue to record with edel CLASSICS. Several productions have been awarded an Echo prize.
On the Berlin Classics homepage you will find various artists such as Malte & Mezzo, the Boulanger Trio, Sarah Christian and Simon Höfele. You can take a closer look at the individual artists and read their biographies. Berlin Classics also keeps you up to date with new releases.
