CMP Records
CMP Records (Creative Music Productions)
CMP Records was founded in 1977 by Kurt Renker, who was also responsible for the label's productions. Initially, only jazz recordings were released on the label. Later, under the direction of Walter Quintus, rock, world music and other artists were also signed.
The unique sound of the company was largely created by Quintus in his studio and rightly bears the title of avant-garde recording. The star began to sink in 1997 and the label was sold to Edel in Hamburg for the first time.
The recordings on vinyl have become ultra rare, as there are currently only remaining stocks and no new pressings are planned.
Under the new company management Silva Screen Records, some of these recordings have been released as digital downloads since 2010. Artists who have released records on CMP Records include the German jazz pianist Joachim Kühn, the English bassist and co-founder of the rock monster Cream, Jack Bruce and Andy Summers, the guitarist of The Police and many more.
