Linn Records
Linn Records
The hi-fi equipment manufacturer Linn from Glasgow distributes audiophile recordings from the jazz and classical music sectors with its Linn Records label.
Linn has been repeatedly showered with awards in recent years and is famous among fans and critics for its skills. In 2010, Linn Records won the Gramophone Award for Label of the Year. During tests on their Sondek LP12 turntable, the engineers came up with the idea of creating their own pressing for their experiments.
The first major album that Linn pressed was "A walk across rooftops" by Blue Nile. Artists who have had their records pressed by Linn include the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Nigel North, Claire Martin, Barb Jungr, Martin Taylor, Carol Kidd and Ian Shaw. Artist and graphic designer John Haxby creates the unique covers for Linn Records. After the triumph of the CD, the label did not release any more recordings on LP until 2005. Once again it was Carol Kidd who had the honor of having a 180 gram vinyl pressing of her new album pressed by Linn.
The new Linn recordings will initially be made on a Neumann VMS 80 with a Neumann SX74 cutting head. Incidentally, a device from Germany will be used for the recording and then pressed by a Toolex Alpha Machine from Sweden.
The former Deutsche-Grammophon Studios in Hanover takes care of the professional mastering at the end of the production process.
Vinyl from the heaven of sound quality is the final result and ensures screams of joy and feelings of happiness of a special kind for hi-fi enthusiasts.
