SAM Records

SAM Records

He doesn't come from the music industry and hardly knows anything about the industrial business. Nevertheless, he is venturing into uncharted territory with his own record label. The man in question is Frederic Thomas, based in Paris.
He discovered jazz at the tender age of 15 and developed a love for his beloved vinyl records and large-format cover photos. In 2006, he met the American musician Nathan Davis in person. From then on, his decision was made. A recording by Nathan Davis from 1965 was to be reissued in the very best quality. While searching for the copyrights to the cover photo, he came across the legendary photographer Jean Pierre Leloir, who had been capturing musical life in the French capital in his pictures for years.
Fred finally got hold of the original master tape through him and reached an agreement with the owner. His first album was produced. Just a few years later, five to be precise, in 2011, he founded his own label and named it after his son Sam.
He was supported by a professional sound engineer and a resourceful graphic designer. Together they create vinyl masterpieces from the exciting days of the Paris jazz sessions.

All productions are based on the original master tapes and are produced in the original cover on high-quality 180 gram HQ vinyl at Pallas in Germany.
