Powerful high-end headphone amplifier with uncompromising control
The Head Box DS3 B is positioned as a powerful high-end headphone amplifier for particularly demanding users and power-hungry headphones. It has been consistently designed for maximum control, stability and sonic precision and is aimed at listeners who accept no limitations, even with difficult loads.
In balanced operation, the Head Box DS3 B provides an output power of up to 1,300 mW into 32 ohms. In conjunction with its high voltage stability and generously dimensioned power reserves, it is capable of driving both low-impedance and high-impedance or electrically demanding headphone models with confidence and without distortion. Even at high levels, playback remains controlled and free of compression effects at all times.
The sonic performance is underpinned by extremely low distortion values, an outstanding signal-to-noise ratio of up to 118 dB and excellent channel separation. The result is a high-resolution, dynamic and spatially stable sound image with precise localization, clearly contoured transients and superior bass control - even with complex program material.
On the connection side, the DS3 B head box offers both unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR inputs, allowing flexible integration into a wide variety of signal sources and chains. The equipment is supplemented by an RCA bypass output, via which the input signal can be passed on to downstream amplifiers or other components without loss.
As with the smaller S3 B, four headphone outputs are available on the front, covering both unbalanced and balanced standards. In the DS3 B, however, these are embedded in a significantly more powerful, voltage-resistant amplifier design, which is specially designed for maximum power output and operational reliability.
The Pro-Ject Head Box DS3 B is therefore particularly recommended for ambitious desktop setups, professional studio workstations and high-quality hi-fi chains where uncompromising control, high reserves and absolute sonic control are required.
