EASY PHONO - phono pre-amp - Analogis

Phono preamplifier - MM - Analogis

Many modern amplifiers no longer have a phono input - and if you still want to connect your record player to the system, you need an external phono stage. The Analogis Easy Phono is exactly that: a compact, sophisticated solution that amplifies the weak signal of an MM cartridge system, equalizes it according to the RIAA standard and raises it to line level - ready for any AUX, CD or tape input. Developed by the German analog accessories specialist Analogis (Falkensee), which has stood for a clear price-performance ratio in the analog accessories segment for years.

What sets the Easy Phono apart from many no-name alternatives are its consistently practical design decisions: gold-plated RCA and DIN sockets cover both common plug standards - including historical three-pin DIN connections, which are common on older German record players. A screwable ground terminal (GND) closes ground loops securely and firmly before they become audible as a humming sound. And the external plug-in power supply keeps the transformer and its stray magnetic fields physically separated from the sensitive signal path - a measure that is by no means a matter of course in this price segment.

Cinch & DIN

Gold-plated connections for both plug standards - incl. historic 3-pin DIN socket

External power supply unit

Transformer outside the housing - no hum due to magnetic interference

GND earthing screw

Screwable earth connection for safe, hum-free operation

Connection & application

The Easy Phono is located in the signal path between the turntable and amplifier. Input: the weak phono signal of the MM cartridge system (typically 2-5 mV). Output: a line signal boosted to 450 mV, which any conventional high-level input can process without any problems. The built-in RIAA equalization corrects the frequency curve that was deliberately imprinted during the cutting process - bass is boosted, treble is reduced - and thus restores the neutral, true-to-original sound of the recording. Without this equalization, a record sounds thin and shrill; the Easy Phono performs this task quietly and reliably in the background.

The connection is extremely straightforward: Connect the record player to the input using an RCA or DIN cable, connect the amplifier to the output using an RCA cable, plug in the power supply and you're done. If you are using a turntable with a separate earth cable - as is the case with many Thorens, Dual or Pro-Ject models - connect the earth cable to the labeled GND screw. This reliably prevents the possible humming sound caused by ground differences between the turntable and amplifier. The compact aluminum housing (100 × 65 × 35 mm) disappears inconspicuously behind the turntable or - thanks to the small mounting lugs on the side - can also be screwed down to save space.
