Vinyl care - record cleaning
A professional wet washing machine cleans thoroughly - but it doesn't remove everything. Grease, oil, nicotine residue and electrostatically bound microparticles chemically adhere to the groove edges and remain even after multiple machine washes. Record Restore starts where machines stop: as an archive-compatible reactivation system that specifically removes these binding substances from deep within the groove, neutralizes them and removes them completely without leaving any residue - without electricity, without equipment, without mechanical abrasion. The result is documented by measurement: up to +11 dB signal-to-noise ratio and permanently eliminated electrostatic charge.
The Record Restore Box Set contains everything you need for professional home use - carefully coordinated and designed so that the entire set-up takes up no more space than a coffee table. With four 200 ml bottles, one box set is sufficient for up to 120 LPs. Once you've experienced Record Restore, you won't want to treat your collection any differently.
+11 dB SNR measured
Independently tested increase in signal-to-noise ratio - corresponds to ~75 % sound improvement
For 120 LPs
4 × 200 ml are sufficient for up to 120 records - approx. 3.0-3.5 ml per side of a 12″ LP
New on the EU market
Alcohol-free, surfactant-based, suitable for archives - used by collectors and audio experts worldwide
Scope of delivery - The box set in detail
| 4 × 200 ml Record Restore |
Alcohol-free, surfactant-based cleaning emulsion - sufficient for up to 120 LPs. Also available individually as a refill. |
| Turntable turning device |
Precise turning aid with record support pucks (2 × 90 mm, 1 × 105 mm) - for safe, controllable work without touching the groove surface. |
| Stack Rack drying rack |
Holds up to 10 records simultaneously - enables convenient batch cleaning without waiting time between records. |
| Smoothing brush |
For even distribution of the emulsion over the entire record surface - for complete coverage right to the outermost grooves. |
| 5 ml syringe |
For precise, reproducible dosing - no spilling, no wastage. Approx. 3.0-3.5 ml per LP side is sufficient. |
| Peel-off tape |
For residue-free removal of the dried emulsion film - removes all bound dirt in a single, clean stroke. |
| Record Restored Sticker |
Label stickers for marking records that have already been treated - for clear management of larger collections. |
Working principle - deeper than any machine
The emulsion is applied thinly to the rotating record surface and worked in. As it dries, it emulsifies fats, oils, pressing residues and other adhesive compounds from the groove structure. At the same time, electrostatically charged microparticles are neutralized - they lose their bond to the groove flank and are trapped in the resulting dry film. When the film is removed, all the bound dirt leaves the panel in a single pass: 100% residue-free, without fluid, without solvent, without recoating the grooves.
As the vinyl surface is hardly touched mechanically - no brushes, no abrasion, no high-frequency sonication - Record Restore is the gentlest cleaning process available for records. Particularly sensitive styli such as Micro-Line, Shibata or Micro-Ridge, which sit deep in the groove, benefit especially: the deeper the stylus, the greater the effect of a clean groove edge on the sound and wear. Even sensitive 78 RPM shellac records can be treated safely - a specially formulated formula is available for this purpose.
The antistatic effect - permanent, not temporary
Static charge is the most common and most underestimated cause of crackling, cracking and unwanted dust attraction. Antistatic brushes, ionizers and similar aids discharge the static temporarily - but they do not prevent the record from charging up again immediately the next time it is removed from its sleeve or the needle is placed on it.
Record Restore works differently: the treatment leaves a layer of positive ions on the groove surface that permanently prevents the build-up of new negative charges. A treated record can no longer become electrostatically charged - even after repeated playback. Even brand-new pressings, which carry a considerable charge from the manufacturing process and immediately attract dust from the air, are permanently neutral after a single treatment.
The following video impressively demonstrates this effect - on a brand new, untouched record, measured with an electrostatic detector:
Record Restore does not rely on subjective listening experiences. Independent tests by audio experts using professional analysis software revealed the following reproducible improvements:
| Increase signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) |
up to +11 dB (~75 % improvement) |
| Reduction of the peak noise level |
up to -8 dB (>50 % improvement) |
| Surface noise & crackle |
Significantly reduced, often completely eliminated |
| Channel separation & stage stability |
Measurably improved |
| Dynamic range |
Expanded by exposing original transients |
| Electrostatic charge |
Permanently eliminated - even over repeated playbacks |
The entire device fits on a coffee table - no installation, no power connection, no follow-up costs for wearing parts. A panel is treated in around 3 minutes, and the drying film is removed in seconds. Thanks to the Stack Rack drying stand, up to 10 records can be prepared at the same time and cleaned in batches - ideal for larger collections or the first use after a record purchase.
Because Record Restore does not reuse cleaning fluid or cross-contaminate with brushes or cloths, every treated record is truly clean - not just relatively cleaner than before. The process is completely dry to dispose of, clean to handle and packs up quickly when the job is done.
