Hi-fi accessories · Speaker connectors
Bare cable ends at the speaker terminals are one of the most underestimated weak points in a system: the strands fray, oxidise over the years and work loose every time they are reconnected — and in the worst case, a single stray wire touches the neighbouring terminal. The Dynavox hollow banana plugs put an end to this. They turn any speaker cable up to 6 mm in diameter into a neat plug-in connection that sits securely, conducts reliably for years and can be disconnected at any time with a single movement.
At the heart of the design is the 19 mm long gold-plated hollow plug: the gold plating protects the contact surface from corrosion, ensuring a low-resistance connection to the amplifier or loudspeaker even after many years. The cable is clamped via a side-mounted screw terminal — no soldering iron required, secure and easily removable at any time. And thanks to the banana socket at the end of the plug, another plug can be stacked directly on top: ideal for bi-wiring, a second pair of speakers or quick loop-through during A/B listening comparisons.

Assembly takes just a few minutes: strip the cable, twist the strands, insert them into the plug and clamp them with the side screw — done. As no solder is involved, the strands remain in their original condition and the cable can be changed at any time. The grip sleeve, 30 mm long and 11 mm in diameter, sits comfortably in the hand and makes plugging and unplugging easier, even on crowded rear panels.
The hollow plug is designed as a spring contact: it adapts to the banana socket and ensures a firm fit over a large contact area — so the connection remains stable even when cables and components are moved. Banana sockets are found on almost all amplifiers, receivers and loudspeakers with binding posts; the plug simply slides into the hole in the binding post cap.
A set comprises four plugs — two marked red and two marked black. This allows a speaker cable to be fully terminated at both ends, or a stereo pair on the speaker side, and positive and negative can be distinguished at a glance. This is more than just a convenience: if a loudspeaker is accidentally connected with reversed polarity, the two speakers work out of phase — bass and midrange imaging collapse noticeably. With the colour coding, this simply doesn't happen.
Two sets are required for a fully terminated stereo cable pair (both ends, both channels). The plugs are supplied securely packed in a blister pack.
