Fully automatic turntables from genuine manufactory production are a dying breed. The analogis Dreher EV is one of the few remaining representatives of this species - developed and manufactured in the Black Forest by Fehrenbacher in St. Georgen, the workshop whose roots go right back to the legendary DUAL era. If you buy here, you are not buying a consumer appliance. Buying here means buying phono history.

The Dreher EV is the comfort version of the Dreher: press the lever briefly, the gimbal-mounted tonearm swivels over the record, lowers precisely - and lifts off again at the end of the side as if by magic, returns to its resting position and the device switches itself off. No manual intervention, no forgotten needle, no risk. And if you want to play manually, you can of course still do so. The "EV" stands for the integrated PHONO-MM preamplifier: The LINE signal is applied directly - direct connection to any amplifier, receiver or active loudspeaker, without any external additional device.

The two-piece MDF cabinet with sub-chassis construction is the acoustic foundation of the Dreher EV. The viscous-damped sub-chassis rests resiliently in the frame and absorbs structure-borne and impact sound before it can reach the needle - the result is a precise, deep and clearly contoured bass that is convincing even in acoustically difficult rooms. The rumble-to-noise ratio of 72 dB (DIN 45500) is tangible proof of this quietness.

The gimbal-mounted ULM tonearm (211 mm effective length) is one of the lowest-friction bearing designs in the segment. The complete internal tonearm cabling ensures a resistance-free signal flow without external solder joints - a detail that many competitors in this price range simply do without. The crank angle and overhang are precisely adjusted ex works, the tangential tracking error angle is only 0.15°/cm radius. The electronically controlled DC motor with belt drive keeps synchronization fluctuations to ±0.06 % (DIN) or 0.035 % WRMS - motor vibrations are kept to a minimum thanks to mechanical decoupling.

Fitted and adjusted at the factory: the Ortofon OM 10 - an MM pick-up system with decades of proven performance, 20 Hz to 22 kHz frequency range and 4 mV output voltage. If you want to upgrade later: an OM 20 or OM 30 stylus can be replaced without tools and raises the sound quality to a new level - so the investment makes sense in the long term.

The Dreher EV is manufactured by Alfred Fehrenbacher GmbH in St. Georgen in the Black Forest - the place where the turntable tradition has been alive for over a century. Fehrenbacher took over the complete production line for analog DUAL turntables in 1993 and continued production there for decades under the DUAL name. Today, the same manufacturing know-how is used in the analogis devices, among others - authentic Black Forest craftsmanship that cannot be imitated.
