The platter support is the silent link between the record and the platter - and therefore one of the interfaces in the entire analog system that determines the sound. It determines how vibrations are transferred from the platter to the record, how static charge is dissipated and how precisely the pickup can scan the groove. For this task, the Analogis Mat SIX uses a material that combines manufacturing tradition and physical ingenuity: high-quality cowhide suede in deep black.

Due to its open fiber structure, suede - the roughened, velvety split leather on the inside - has natural cushioning properties that smooth materials lack. It lies softly and evenly on the turntable, fits snugly to the underside of the record and absorbs unwanted resonances before they reach the pick-up system. The result is a warmer, more powerful sound image with supported bass and a present mid-range - the typical sound character of a leather cover that is appreciated by audiophiles, without sacrificing musical naturalness.

Turntable supports are not second-class accessories - they have a direct impact on the acoustics of the analog system. The speed of sound and damping coefficient of the material are physically decisive: leather, felt and cork have a lower speed of sound than vinyl and absorb vibration energy more strongly than synthetic or metallic alternatives. This means that resonances generated by the rotating platter or the drive motor are absorbed at the contact surface with the record instead of being passed unfiltered into the pick-up system.

The Mat SIX produces the characteristic sound character of leather overlays: warm timbre, powerful bass, present mid-range - with a slight natural compression that makes voices and acoustic instruments appear more physical. Anyone who owns an analytically cool turntable or plays on a metal platter will benefit in particular: the Mat SIX brings emotional warmth to the sound without sacrificing resolution or high-frequency detail.

Added to this is the antistatic effect of the leather: unlike plastic or acrylic pads, suede reduces electrostatic charges that are generated by friction when the platter is picked up. Less static charge means less dust attraction, less crackling and a cleaner, quieter reproduction - particularly audible in string pianissimo or the silence between two notes.

Thanks to its soft suede surface, the Mat SIX is non-slip on the turntable - it holds the record securely in position without sticking. When changing the record, it can be easily gripped and taken along or left on the platter. If you do not have an adjustable tonearm, you should check the thickness of the material against the existing system beforehand - a leather rest changes the effective tonearm position minimally and may require fine adjustment of the VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle) for fixed systems.

Cleaning is very simple: a standard lint roller removes dust and fibers from the surface without damaging the material. A slightly moistened leather cloth is recommended for heavier soiling. Suede is robust and durable - unlike felt pads, it does not fray, does not deform and retains its cushioning properties for years.
