Few accessories have shaped the hi-fi world in recent years as much as the Gaia isolators from IsoAcoustics. Showered with awards by the specialist press and valued by music lovers and studio professionals alike, they replace the spikes and feet supplied with speakers and components – and solve a problem that audibly holds many systems back: the cabinet and the surface it stands on vibrate together. Renowned manufacturers such as Marten, Sonus Faber and PSB recognised the potential early on and fit Gaia isolators as standard on selected models.

With the Gaia Neo, unveiled at High End 2025 in Munich, the classic receives a comprehensive upgrade: installation no longer requires lock nuts, the height can be adjusted steplessly via a rotating ring, and the design looks even more elegant. Each pack contains a set of 4 – available in three sizes for speakers, subwoofers and hi-fi components weighing up to 100 kg in total.

A loudspeaker does not just move the air in front of its drivers, it also moves its own cabinet. If it stands rigidly on spikes or rubber feet, these vibrations travel into the floor, stand or sideboard – and come back as resonances and interference. The result is muddy bass, a flat soundstage and detail that gets lost in the room. The patented isolation technology of the Gaia Neo breaks this cycle: the cabinet can move freely around its own axis, while the energy no longer drains into the supporting surface.

You can hear the difference straight away: the bass gains definition and depth, vocals and instruments detach more clearly from the speakers, and the spatial imaging becomes more precise. The effect is just as noticeable with floor-standing speakers as with subwoofers and heavy hi-fi components. A welcome side effect: the elastomers on the underside reliably protect delicate floors – quite unlike conventional spikes.

Installation without lock nuts: The top of the housing sits flush with the underside of the speaker. An integrated O-ring seals the connection and aligns the isolator at the same time – saving tools and time.

Stepless height adjustment: A rotating ring lets you raise or lower each isolator individually. This allows you to compensate for uneven floors and set the speaker perfectly level.

Smart placement: Protective caps on the underside let you slide the speaker comfortably into position. Then tilt each side slightly and pull off the caps. The M6-1.0, M8-1.25 and 1/4-20 thread adaptors are included and fit the most common speakers.

The Gaia Neo comes in three sizes that differ in diameter, height and load capacity: Gaia 3 Neo for up to 32 kg, Gaia 2 Neo for up to 55 kg and Gaia 1 Neo for up to 100 kg – each figure refers to the set of 4, i.e. to the weight of one speaker or component.

The isolators work most effectively at 40 to 90 % of their maximum load capacity. A 30 kg speaker is therefore better matched with the Gaia 2 Neo than with the Gaia 3 Neo, even though the latter could technically still carry it. The load capacity must never be exceeded.

For all other thread sizes, IsoAcoustics offers adaptors for more than 100 further threads. For setup: the IsoAcoustics logo faces forwards or backwards, and on subwoofers towards the drivers. On thick carpets, the optional Carpet Discs ensure a stable footing.
