Turntable spare part - Rega Original
Rega turntables are among the most durable and reliable turntables ever built - it is not uncommon for Planar models to still be in service after twenty years or more. It is precisely because these devices are so durable that it pays to look after them: a tonearm lift that no longer holds cleanly or works hesitantly after years of intensive use is one of the few wearing parts that can noticeably spoil the pleasure of analog listening. If you can no longer lower the stylus precisely and without trembling onto the groove, in the worst case you risk uncontrolled stylus drop - with potential consequences for the stylus, cartridge and valuable vinyl.
This original Rega spare part is the right answer to precisely this problem. The tonearm lift including lift bench is the identical component that Rega uses in its turntable factories - not a replica, not a compromise, but the original component from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, manufactured to the same tolerances as the part it replaces. It fits all Rega tonearms, including the RB110, RB220 and RB330 as well as compatible models - and once fitted, fully restores the familiar, precise cueing function.

Why the tonearm lift wears out
The tonearm lift - also known as the cueing device or cue mechanism in technical jargon - is the component that is activated every time the record starts and ends. It gently lowers the tonearm onto the groove and lifts it up again at the end of the record. This mechanical element typically consists of a small silicone buffer that controls the precise lowering of the tonearm. Over time, this buffer can harden, dry out or lose its damping - the result is a lift that lowers the arm too quickly or uncontrollably, or that no longer holds securely under the weight of the tonearm. Since every record enjoyment begins and ends with a lift process, this component is one of the first that deserves to be replaced after years of intensive use.
The installation can be carried out by yourself with a little manual skill: In most cases, the tonearm must first be removed from the chassis in order to remove the old lift and insert the new one. It is advisable to proceed calmly and without the use of force - the components are precisely manufactured and fit without force when correctly aligned. If you don't feel confident enough to install the new lift yourself, you are in good hands with an authorized Rega specialist dealer, who will carry out the replacement in just a few minutes. This spare part is supplied as a workshop spare part without separate installation instructions - in line with the standard in which Rega also supplies these parts to specialist dealers.
A functioning lift is not a luxury add-on, but a basic requirement for the responsible handling of valuable cartridges and records. If you listen to vinyl regularly and want to keep your Rega turntable at the level of performance it deserves for years to come, this original part is the right choice.
