MANCINI HENRY - Music From Peter Gunn (180g)
This is not only a great LP, but indeed a key work in jazz and pop history. Back in 1958, the series "Peter Gunn" was the surprise hit of the new television season, capturing the imagination of millions of viewers with its blend of private detective stories and jazz.
Composer Henry Mancini was more than adept at jazz and his music finally cemented the popularity of the series. With the title tune, a fast, menacing and exciting theme, the album "The Music From Peter Gunn" became a big hit, rose unusually high in the charts for a television soundtrack and did so well that RCA Victor asked for more material from Mancini the next year ("More Music From Peter Gunn").
The music is great: "Session At Pete's Pad" features the trumpets of Pete Candoli, Uan Rasey, Conrad Gozzo and Frank Beach, while Barney Kessel's electric guitar takes center stage on "Dreamsville". "Sorta Blue" and "Fallout" are pieces for the entire ensemble that reflect the cool West Coast jazz of the time. In other words, virtuosic orchestral jazz at its best.
This Speakers Corner production was made using analog master tape and mastering 100% pure analog. More information at www.pure-analogue.com. All licenses and GEMA fees have been paid.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner for wet cleaning your vinyl. New records from high-quality production will also benefit from this.
