With this purely analog-produced vinyl LP, this brass trio, consisting of Leonard Paul (trombone), Thomas Gansch (trumpet) and Albert Wieder (tuba), presents a magnificent masterpiece.
The LP was recorded live and without overdubs at the legendary Casino Baumgarten in Vienna, where, among other things, Pro-Ject Records' in-house "7Ray" production was made. The dreamlike virtuosic musical performances of the artists are wonderfully embedded by the authentic analog recording and production, so that audiophiles or casual listeners can expect an unparalleled experience!
With Mnozil Brass on the road for many years with great international success, they have contributed to the fact that the sound of trumpets, trombones and tubas in a large-scale constellation is experiencing a real renaissance. The idea to try it together in a trio resulted from the fact that the three gentlemen are responsible for the encores of every Mnozil Brass show, and in this way a lot of material was created that was worth releasing.
This triangular relationship reveals a wonderfully varied musical experience that effortlessly leaves stylistic boundaries behind. Paul, Gansch and Wieder play their way through the most diverse musical worlds with gusto. They experiment and wander through music history in new arrangements and original compositions: George Michael, The Beatles, Chuck Mangione, Johann Strauss, Toots Thielemans, Elvis Costello, Georg Danzer, Junior Mance and, and, and... Pure melody, bass, rhythm and harmony!
Above all, it is the way of playing, carried by a noticeable joy of playing, that stands out. You notice and feel in every note the fun that the three musicians have when playing the pieces. A really nice album, which not only convinces artistically, but also sonically!
