KING CRIMSON - Three Of A Perfect Pair (200g)
Released as part of the 40th Anniversary series, the vinyl editions of the Steven Wilson & Robert Fripp mixes of the 1980 album trilogy "Discipline", "Beat" and "Three of a Perfect Pair" are long overdue.
Seven years after King Crimson ceased to exist, the reinvention of King Crimson as a quartet with Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford, Adrian Belew and Tony Levin brought with it a surprising new era for fans old and new.
Stylistically very different from the 1970s King Crimsons, this new line-up combined rock with electronic elements, funk, pop, modern avant-garde and a complex variety of musical textures and influences.
"Three of a Perfect Pair" (1984) was the first of the 80s albums to reach the Top 30 in the UK album charts, revealing the growing popularity of the 80s line-up and securing the band's status as one of the most interesting and innovative bands of the decade.
King Crimson's 1980 studio trilogy is now celebrated as a classic period. The intricacies of the playing and the details of the compositional style became key influences of sub-genres such as math rock.
