The late Joe Higgins (he died in december 1999) was the man who taught Bob Marley and Bunny Livingston how to sing. In the 1970s, he also stood in for Livingston at some Wailers gigs.
When “Live Of Contradiction” was first released in 1975, it already stood out of the mass of reggae records of the time. In contrast to numerous other reggae albums of the time, where groove seemed to be all there was, “Life Of Contradiction” put forward clear song structures and convinces the audience with great lyrics full of charm and wit. Some of the songs are actually already from the 1960s. However, Higgs had never been really content with the versions that had been released until then. Now finally, Higgs had the financial means and the opportunity to work with the musician he needed to work on the wonderful character of these songs and to make them sound right.
This re-issue of the timeless classic was completely remastered and comes with extensive sleevenotes.
