KING ALBERT WITH STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN - In Session (2LP/180g/45rpm)
Recorded in 1983, “In Session” is the only known recording featuring Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan playing together. The long-overdue release of the record (the album wasn’t released until 1999) is a fitting tribute to the talent of two of the greatest musicians ever to play the blues on the electric guitar. It is now available on vinyl for the first time.
Anyone who looked forward to such a jam session with high expectations, only to be disappointed—because each participant plays second fiddle to the other and, in the end, they never really let loose—will welcome this meeting of two giants of blues guitar. Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan clearly shared a mutual admiration, but it was not in their interest to a) intimidate each other or b) take a back seat to the other. At least not without stirring things up a bit.
This set is a valuable addition for any fan of these two blues giants. Complementing the free-spirited jams are priceless conversations between songs, in which both musicians pay each other tribute and King offers some wise advice to the much younger Vaughan (who, tragically, died first). This is simply a must-have product.
Analogue Productions unveiled the test pressings of their Stax recordings at the Home Entertainment Expo in San Francisco in June 2003. Among the exhibitors who used these upcoming releases to demonstrate their equipment was Richard Vandersteen of Vandersteen Audio.
“It was great. Visitors flocked into the room whenever we put the LP on. Finally, there was music at a trade show that people actually wanted to hear. I’m talking about famous classics that also sound incredible. It’s just good, old music that sounds better than ever before. People loved it, and we loved playing it for them.” — Richard Vandersteen, Vandersteen Audio
We recommend using “L’Art du Son” LP cleaner for wet cleaning your vinyl. Even new, high-quality records benefit from this process.
