STEELY DAN - Can't Buy A Thrill (200g/45rpm/UHQR)
Steely Dans' debut album "Can't Buy A Thrill" has definitely earned its place in various best lists like "Rolling Stone's" "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". Songs like "Do It Again" and "Reelin' In The Years" with the wonderful guitar solo of guest musician Elliot Randall (which, by the way, is one of Led Zeppelins' Jimmy Page's favorite solos) kicked off Steely Dan's career. The album differs from the band's subsequent releases not least in its use of blue-eyed soul singer David Palmer as lead vocalist, but also in the only tentative jazz flourishes that characterize later albums.
The reissue of the 1972 platinum-decorated album as an Ultra High Quality Record at 45 rpm, pressed on two transparent 200-gram vinyl discs, with attention to every detail of each record. In addition to the two LPs, the jewel case contains a four-page booklet with liner notes by Donald Fagen. The LP was mastered by audio engineering legend Bernie Grundman. The release is limited to 20,000 numbered copies.

More about Clarity Vinyl
When we set out to make the best vinyl record in the world, we began by establishing a set of exacting standards to address all the components that make up an LP. We call our records made to these rigorous standards Ultra High Quality Records (UHQR). Most audiophiles will understand that UHQR's list of critical components includes recording, mastering, finishing, pressing and quality control. But some don't think about the raw material used to make the record: the vinyl itself.
We did some research and learned some interesting things about the history of the iconic black vinyl record. We were most impressed by the fact that LP vinyl is not black in its pure state. The cream color of the record you're about to hear is the color of raw vinyl in its purest form (uncolored vinyl). The black color you are used to seeing is a dye called "carbon black" that was part of the original mix used in old shellac records. When the vinyl mix replaced the shellac mix, carbon black continued to be used as a dye. Since then, we have expected our records to be black.
In order to make the ultimate record, we decided to improve the sound quality by removing anything that we thought might affect the quality. Record needles vibrate at a microscopic level, and soot particles that happen to be on the surface of the groove could cause surface noise. By not adding soot to our Clarity vinyl, we eliminate the possibility of noise contamination from soot particles. Instead, your needle can glide effortlessly over a shiny and silky smooth groove wall.
When we purchased Classic Records, the Clarity Vinyl® brand name came with it. We're proud to have revived, refined and trademarked Clarity Vinyl - the perfect canvas for our masterpiece: vinyl in its purest form.
