WAR - The World Is A Ghetto (2LP/180g/45rpm)
With *The World Is a Ghetto*, the American band War achieved major commercial success. The album originated from a concept centered on the fictional character “Ghetto Man,” which was originally intended for a theater project. This evolved into a musical work that addresses social inequality, discrimination, and social tensions. Sonically, the album stands out with an unmistakable blend of funk, jazz, and soul, enriched with Latin American and Caribbean rhythms. This stylistic diversity gives the songs their distinctive character. In 1973, the album became the best-selling release of the year in the U.S. Its influence extends far beyond that era: Numerous artists, including Janet Jackson, Tupac, Method Man, and the Geto Boys, later drew on the music, sampling individual passages or reinterpreting tracks. Rolling Stone magazine also honored the album by including it on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. With this, War definitively established itself as one of the most influential bands of its era.
