BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN - Symphonie 6 / Pastorale / Ouvertüre Egmont (2LP/180g)
With this 180g double LP Pro-Ject Audio Systems starts a series of classical music reissues on vinyl. The original master tapes of this recording have been newly analog mastered by Georg Burdicek (Tonzauber). Pressed with the highest precision at Pallas, the 33 rpm LP reproduces the 1971 recording in the Great Hall of the Vienna Musikverein in top quality.
Karl Böhm occupies a special place in the history of the Vienna Philharmonic. In 1967, the orchestra was the first to award the title of "Honorary Conductor" to the doctor of law. Until then, only Herbert von Karajan had received this distinction. The relationship between conductor and orchestra was intimate, as can be seen from Böhm's words on the occasion of their last reunion: "I loved them as one can love a person. The first time I heard them, in the standing parterre of the Musikverein, the first time I was allowed to conduct 'Tristan' in the State Opera."
In his 6th Symphony, Ludwig van Beethoven processed his impressions as a city dweller in a rural setting, using instrumental means to imitate sounds of nature. The Pastoral is considered a precursor of 19th century program music. Böhm's work as a conductor is oriented toward the ideal of accuracy and naturalness, and his unerring sense of tempo is also evident here.
Limited to 2,000 copies, hand-numbered.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner for wet washing your vinyl. Even new records of high quality will benefit from it once again.
