STRAUSS RICHARD - Don Juan / Tod Und Verklärung / Also Sprach Zaratustra (2LP/180g)
Limited and individually numbered. 2000 pieces worldwide
The vinyl edition of the Vienna Philharmonic on Pro-Ject Audio Systems is transferred directly from the original Deutsche Grammophon and Decca tapes without any digital intermediate steps. Heinz Lichtenegger, mastermind and head of Pro-Ject Audio Systems, is not only an enthusiastic music lover in his private life. Through the years, he has also become one of the most internationally convincing advocates of the analog world. Out of his reverence for the Vienna Philharmonic came the plan to reissue a series of 12 legendary analog-era recordings of the world-famous orchestra. The selected recordings of the Vienna Philharmonic are basically known for their high fidelity - after all, Decca and then Deutsche Grammophon only let top-class sound masters work with this top orchestra. With this series, Pro-Ject Audio Systems also wants to preserve the actual state of these irreplaceable recordings as a cultural asset for posterity.
Together with a team of specialists, Lichtenegger chose conductor Herbert von Karajan for this LP of the Vienna Philharmonic. If one counts concerts, opera performances, guest appearances and recording sessions together, the Vienna Philharmonic performed under Herbert von Karajan around 700 times. This collaboration began in 1934 and ended with Karajan's death in 1989.
Succinct examples of the unique art of his interpretation are these tone poems by Richard Strauss recorded in the late 1950s and early 1960s in Vienna's Sofiensäle with the "Wieners," which document not least Karajan's extraordinary feeling for sound, balance, and above all depth of expression.
As Lichtenegger says, "We produce the best possible condition for our customers, and while the tapes continue to age, the vinyls reflect the acoustic condition of 2019."
We recommend using "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality manufacture will benefit from this once again.
