LITTLE FEAT - Time Loves A Hero (180g)
From a musical point of view, there are many dreamed and some dreamlike drafts of the American ideal of being free on record. One of them was drawn by frontman Lowell George and his famous formation Little Feat in a "symbiosis of anarchistic primitive folklore and technical rock finesse" (rororo Rocklexikon) praised by experts. Their high level, which the musicians never undercut for two vinyl sides, is set with "Hi Roller", a funky, energetic opener. The polyphonic title track "Time Loves A Hero" follows with a moderate tempo, plenty of drive and sophisticated work in the percussion set, which characterizes the entire album as an important tool.
Little Feat juggles with traditional forms, lures you onto the dance floor with "Old Folks Boogie" and delivers a tasty blend of honky-tonk and blues, which is refined with powerful guitar solos.
Like a picture puzzle, rhythmic figures and figurines flash out of the background of this handmade and solid filigree rock ("Red Streamliner", "Keepin' Up With The Joneses"). But it can also be simple and quiet: the message in "Missin' You" needs nothing more than acoustic guitar chords and male vocals in the sound of the South.
This Speakers Corner production was made using analog master tape and mastering 100% pure analog. More information at www.pure-analogue.com.
