SIMON & GARFUNKEL - The Graduate / OST (180g)
With his film "The Graduate", director Mike Nichols created much more than the Oscar-winning and five Golden Globe-winning erotic initiation of college graduate Benjamin. Both the script and the production methods were revolutionary. For the first time, filmic means were used to target the encrusted morals of upper-class American society, an Alfa-Romeo was used to present a European car for advertising purposes and a soundscape of existing and successful pop songs was put together. Not much needs to be said about the music, because numbers such as "Sounds of Silence", "Mrs. Robinson" and "Scarborough Fair" have become musical cultural assets since the film adaptation at the latest. What is astonishing, however, is how seamlessly the collected pieces fit into the cinematic context, as if they were tailor-made for the scenes.
Of course, this soundtrack maintains the monument to Dustin Hoffman, who played his first major role, and elevates Simon & Garfunkel to the highest pedestal of the cuddle bards. But it also recalls the upbeat interspersed instrumental interludes by Dave Grusin, which are almost forgotten in the tantalizing screen show.
This Speakers Corner production was made using analog master tape and mastering 100% pure analog. More information at www.pure-analogue.com. All licenses and GEMA fees have been paid.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner for wet washing your vinyl. New records from high-quality production will also benefit from this.
