How does it work?
Record Restore - Premium cleaning for vinyl and records
-New- on the European market. The process is practically different from all conventional cleaning methods. It not only cleans superficially, but penetrates deep into the grooves to remove the dirt completely.
It has an antistatic effect without leaving any residue. The emulsion is removed 100% from the vinyl surface when stripping. You do not need electricity, large equipment, spare parts, cloths or other aids. The vinyl surface is barely touched, making this process unrivaled in its gentleness.
Overview & variants
Record Restore is the secret weapon for record cleaning - available in practical 200 ml bottles or as a multi-set (1 to 4 bottles), depending on the size of your collection. Each kit also comes with "Record Restored" label stickers to identify treated records. Particularly suitable for refilling the box set or for direct use without additional mixing steps.
How it works & formulation
The special formula attacks dirt, dust, deposits and adhesive compounds (such as grease, oil, nicotine, etc.) directly in the grooves.
These substances are dissolved by emulsification and statically charged microparticles are neutralized so that they are bound in a skin film and can later be removed without leaving any residue. This allows the record to be 100% cleaned - without leaving any residue.
Application & efficiency
- Around 3.0-3.5 ml of liquid per side is sufficient for a 12″ LP
- Up to 120 LPs can be cleaned with an 800 ml set
- The application takes around 3 minutes per record - removing the film coating only takes seconds
- Unlike many other methods, there is no cross-contamination from used liquid, brushes or cloths. Cleaning is gentle, without aggressive chemicals and without mechanical abrasion.
Advantages & effect
- Noise reduction & sound clarity: Ultra-fine particles are removed, background noise is reduced, details are highlighted more clearly
- Protection & extension of service life: Stylus and plate are protected against abrasion, wear is minimized
- Antistatic effect: After treatment, the record no longer becomes statically charged - fine particles do not stick, preventing static build-up
- Compatibility with sophisticated pickups: Particularly advantageous for sensitive stylus grinds such as Micro-Line, Shibata, Micro-Ridge and others, as these sit deeper in the groove and require particularly fine cleaning.
Ease of use & batch cleaning
- The device requires little space (about the area of a coffee table)
- Repair and clean single or batch plates equally effectively
- No mess from liquid mixing systems - no splashing, no dripping - clean and efficient
- Packaging and accessories are designed so that you can pack up quickly once cleaning is complete
For old and sensitive boards (e.g. 78 RPM)
A special formula is available for older boards or those made of sensitive material, which can also be used on Shellac and vinyl - without risk to the surface.
Test results & testimonials
Independent tests, including by audio experts, confirm impressive noise reduction and sound improvements. For example, one expert recorded an increase in the signal-to-noise ratio of up to 11 dB - a clear quality reserve that brings out "unheard details".
Users report that even heavily used second-hand records sound much quieter, clearer and livelier after use. Many praise the reduction of crackling, pops and static artifacts in particular.
FAQ & tips
- Why clean at all?
Dust, greasy residues and static charges distort sound patterns, generate noise and accelerate needle and record wear. Thorough cleaning preserves sound fidelity and protects your investment.
- Does every vinyl need cleaning?
Yes - whether new or used: Every record benefits from it. New records often require removal of press-release substances and static charge; older records often have deposits that need to be removed.
- Which is better - Record Restore or other methods?
Many older methods (water baths, brushes, vacuum systems) leave residue or cannot completely remove particles. Record Restore is designed to loosen everything, neutralize statically charged microparticles and remove residues completely - in just one step.
