B.B. KING & ERIC CLAPTON - Riding With The King (2LP/180g)
Eric Clapton was on a real roll when he teamed up with blues legend B.B. King for their collaborative album *Riding With The King*. In the 1990s, the British guitar legend made a remarkable comeback, which brought him back into the spotlight with a wide audience. Key factors in this included his highly acclaimed appearance on “MTV Unplugged,” several outstanding blues interpretations, and an album of original songs that ranked among his most commercially successful works.
Clapton built on these successes with his first collaborative release with B.B. King. “Riding With The King” is a passionate tribute to the American blues and showcases both musicians at their musical best. In the liner notes for the album, Clapton describes the collaboration as a dream that had finally come true. For B.B. King, too, this marked the fulfillment of a long-cherished wish.
The collaboration was celebrated by critics and audiences alike: in 2001, the album won a Grammy in the “Best Traditional Blues Album” category. It also reached the top spot on the Billboard Blues charts and was certified double platinum in the U.S.
