The tracking force is the most influential control variable in the analog signal path - and the most frequently underestimated. Anyone relying on the mechanical tonearm scale is trusting a system that never reflects the actual weight at the tip of the stylus due to bearing friction, ageing and manufacturing tolerances. The Analogis Balance It closes this gap: as a compact, high-resolution electronic tonearm scale with a measuring range of 0.01 g to 100 g and a dedicated contact point that takes the measurement precisely at the diamond tip of the cartridge.
Analogis, the German accessories company from Falkensee, has consistently tailored the Balance It to audiophile use. The stainless steel weighing surface is not only robust, but also has a precise contact point - so that the needle is in exactly the right place and at the correct measuring height. For a particularly precise result, Analogis recommends removing the turntable support before measuring: this way, the measuring height corresponds exactly to the height at which the needle scans the groove.

Measurement & application
Every pickup manufacturer specifies a narrow tolerance window for the optimum tracking force - often just a few tenths of a gram. Within this window, the system works as designed: The stylus, cantilever rubber and groove bear evenly, distortions remain minimal. A deviation of just 0.2 g can measurably impair the sound and shorten the service life of the stylus and record. The Balance It measures to an accuracy of 0.01 g - far more precise than any mechanical tonearm scaling - and thus gives control back to the listener.
The workflow is very simple: place the Balance It on the turntable (remove the support), lower the tonearm to the contact point, read off the measured value, readjust the counterweight on the tonearm. The backlit 5-digit LCD is easy to read even in poor lighting conditions on the rack. The tare function allows zeroing with any support - practical for measurements with different reference weights or for use as a precision scale. After the measurement, the lid closes as protection and can be used as a weighing tray for small objects if required.
More than just a tonearm scale
With a measuring range from 0.01 g to 100 g and six selectable weight units - grams, ounces (oz), troy ounces (ozt), carats (ct), grains (gn) and taels (TL) - the Balance It is much more than just a hi-fi tool. It can be used as a fine scale for stamps, as a gold scale for precious metals, as a herbal scale or simply as a reliable pocket scale for everyday use. The 5 g calibration weight supplied allows you to check the measuring accuracy yourself at any time - particularly useful if the scales are occasionally used for other purposes and precision needs to be guaranteed.
The imitation leather case protects the scale from dust and knocks and makes it a mobile solution - ideal for anyone who looks after several turntables, brings them to friends or wants to keep their scale handy next to the rack without burying it in the drawer.
