gatefold outer covers - PVC - polyvinyl chloride - gatefold - 1 piece - Simply Analog

Record care & storage - Gatefold outer sleeves - Simply Analog

Gatefold covers are the most beautiful objects in a record collection - and also the most fragile. The hinged construction means twice as much paper and cardboard, twice as many edges, twice as much surface area for scuff marks, dust and moisture damage. Conventional 12" outer sleeves are simply not suitable for gatefold covers: They stretch, tear at the folded edges, can barely be opened or only protect one side at a time. The Simply Analog gatefold outer sleeves have been specially developed to solve this problem: generously sized to fit the entire unfolded cover and made of heavy PVC that can withstand daily pulling out, unfolding and putting back without tearing or ripping.

The thick-walled PVC (each cover weighs 21 g) gives these outer covers their characteristic robustness: the cover retains its shape, does not crease when gripped and provides reliable protection against mechanical damage from other boards on the shelf, rubbing, fingerprints and moisture from the air. Simply Analog from Greece - known for well thought-out phono accessories for the active vinyl lover - has designed these sleeves for the regularly used collection: as practical everyday protection that costs nothing except for the one-time insertion.

Gatefold-specific

The only outer sleeve that allows the gatefold cover to be opened completely - without removing the sleeve

Heavy-grade PVC

21 g per sleeve - robust wall thickness for everyday use, no creasing or tearing when gripping

Simply Analog

Greek phono specialist with a clear focus on practical, well thought-out vinyl accessories

Application & note on the material

The Simply Analog gatefold sleeves are designed to protect active collections - for records that are regularly taken off the shelf, listened to and put back again. The PVC construction provides stability exactly where it is needed: under the mechanical stress of daily handling. The thick-walled material reliably protects against scuff marks on shelves and neighboring records, fingerprints on the cover and dust deposits on the cover surfaces.

A note for collectors who are concerned about the long-term chemical stability of their most valuable items: PVC contains plasticizers that can outgas over very long periods of time and come into contact with sensitive printing inks or gloss laminations. For the long-term archiving of rare original pressings, PVC-free outer sleeves made of polyethylene or polypropylene are recommended - such as the MoFi Archival Sleeves or the Simply Analog PP Crystal Clear sleeves. The gatefold PVC sleeves are the right protection for everything that is played regularly - and that is exactly what they are made for.
