WBT-0102 Cu - Cinch plug pure copper Nextgen
High-end RCA plug with nextgen™ technology - signal conductor pure copper or silver - from German plug specialist WBT
the perfect phono plug (record players, phono amplifiers etc.) as it is particularly well shielded against interference fields.
Brief description of the plug
- Highest possible conductivity (one-piece signal conductor made of pure copper or silver)
- Largely free of eddy currents
- Broadband capable (up to 200 MHz)
- Excellent shielding (EMC)
- 2-part clamping sleeve in piano black
- reliable signal transmission thanks to special collet mechanism from WBT ( patented )
The 0102 Cu / Ag RCA plug from WBT's nextgen™ product series has a transmission bandwidth of up to 200 MHz . This means that this RCA plug is well above the usual standard products. In this plug, the more conductive brass sleeve is connected to the negative contact to ensure perfect phono shielding against interference fields.
When selecting the material for the contact parts, high-purity copper (Cu version) and fine silver (Ag version) were deliberately chosen because, as is generally known, they are among the best electrical conductors. This ensures optimum transmission of the signal. In addition, the workpiece is given a nickel-free gold plating in a further production step, which prevents oxidation of the surface and impairment of the contact quality. For the connector body, the developers at WBT opted for nickel-free gold-plated brass to ensure that rigid and particularly thick cables can be accommodated.
The central contact unit, the core element of the RCA plug, is electrically decoupled from the metal body. Particular attention was paid to a low-mass design so that the WBT-0102 operates with as little eddy current as possible.
With the aid of the collet mechanism, the outer contact can be firmly clamped to the RCA socket after it has been plugged in. This mechanism works in a similar way to the chuck of a standard drill. The connection generates a high contact pressure, which not only results in a secure connection, but also reduces contact resistance.
The front part does not rotate when the sleeve is tightened because the clamping sleeve is designed in two parts. The contact elements are therefore not exposed to any torsional stress. Another positive effect is that dimensional inaccuracies in the outer contacts of cinch sockets can be compensated for. The center pin also ensures a secure electrical connection with the lowest possible contact resistance. This is achieved by the slotted and slightly bent design of the center pin.
A Torx screw guarantees secure strain relief for the cable.
